Twelve bar blues is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a blues progression comprising of 12 bars or measures. What makes it a blues is usually the sequence of how the chords are presented. The twelve bar blues is a standard guitar term / progression that all guitarists should have a basic understanding of. In this video I will demonstrate eight different turnarounds or intros and will provide the tabs below the video for further reference. A turnaround is a phrase or riff that occurs usually on the 11th and 12th measure of a twelve bar blues. The way it is different then an ending is that it usually ends on the 5 chord of the progression which leaves it unresolved to ‘turnaround’ back to the beginning of the tune again. Used as an intro works the same way the 5 chord unresolved heading to the beginning of the tune. As usual keep on strumming
